Fleet Week is an October waterfront tradition
San Francisco Fleet Week began in 1981. The organiser describes an annual October programme with an air show, a parade of ships and community events, alongside civilian-military humanitarian-assistance work.
The cable cars are working historic landmarks
SFMTA says San Francisco's cable-car system became a National Historic Landmark in 1964. Three lines operate: California, Powell/Hyde and Powell/Mason.
The Ferry Plaza market runs during the week too
Foodwise runs the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market outside the Ferry Building on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, year-round. Its market history dates the continuing market to 1993.
